A Message from YEA’s Event Host

About six years ago, I moved to Tampa. About two and a half years in, I realized I was just working, working, working—but I wasn’t actually getting ahead.

That’s when it hit me—I didn’t have any real entrepreneur friends around me. Maybe I had one or two, but they were scattered. Some were in my hometown, some in other cities, some abroad—but they definitely weren’t in Tampa Bay. That’s when I knew I needed to make a change.

So I went on a quest—researching, attending different events, joining communities and groups. But nothing felt right. I was looking for a place to grow, to get the right information, and to connect with people who were serious about making entrepreneurship work for them.

Then one day, a friend looked at me in my apartment parking lot and said, “Hey man, if you create a group to bring people like us together, I’ll be your first member.”

And just like that, we started. Our first event was at Fresh Kitchen on Kennedy Boulevard here in Tampa. From there, we kept growing. We’ve hosted over 27 events, had more than 4,000 entrepreneurs 2 Columncome through our doors, and we’ve figured out what works—and what doesn’t.
